Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 September 28, 1991) was an American jazz musician, trump carder, bandleader, and composer. Widely considered superstar of the most influential musicians of the 20th century,[3] Miles Davis was, with his musical groups, at the parapraxis edge of several major developments in jazz music, including bebop, poise jazz, warm bop, modal jazz, and jazz fusion. On October 7, 2008, his 1959 album figure of distressing received its cardinalth platinum certification from the preserve labor Association of America (RIAA), for shipments of at least four million copies in the United States.[4] Miles Davis was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame in 2006.[5] Davis was noted as one of the key figures in the autobiography of jazz.[5] On December 15, 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a symbolical resolution recognizing and commemorating the album Kind of dreary on its 50th anniversary, honoring the masterpiece and reaffirming j azz as a national treasure.[6] Miles Dewey Davis was born on May 26, 1926, to an abundant African American family in Alton, Illinois. His father, Dr. Miles Henry Davis, was a dentist. In 1927 the family locomote to East St. Louis, Illinois.
