Changes in organizations and jobs in past 10 years The fact should be noted that in earlier times there were less competition and difficulties present in the environment due to which organizations easily existed without facing the emergency to change the internal environment. But now it has become the need of the organizations present in the environment to make changes according to the fluctuation external environment. Further, the ways in which changes are initiated are discussed below: Increased focus on customer satisfaction: Customer has now become the king pin of the market, all organizations focus on satisfying the needs and requirements of the customer so as to attain competitive advantage in the target market. In earlier times, the organizations only focused on the work which they provide, even they provide the products and services which they want to provide to the customers in the market. And the customer cannot demand for additional services as well (Solomon, et. al., 2014). But now with the emerging changes in the external market customers have started gaining more attention. Thus, growth customer focus is one way which has changed the market conditions. Adoption of hi-tech technology: Workplace technology is also changing slowly which is impacting the jobs and skills of people in the current environment. Not only new products are entering in the environment but they are also replacing the old and inefficient ones. Further technology is also being used in the internal environment of an organization. An organization that does not adopt upcoming technologies fails to sustain their activities in the competitive market. Taking an example of Blackberry Company, being placed in the IT sector also they did not used adequate technology in their business operations due to which customer replaced them from other competitive products in the market (Drucker 2017). For instance, social media has become an important tool for organizations to progressively increase their sales. Increment in legal obligations: With the process of increase in workforce diversity, it has emerged as a need for the governments to ensure that all the activities prevailing in the environment do not harm the interest of any person or organization. Many laws and regulations are made that ensure that initiate proper hiring, termination and workplace management laws in the environment. These activities are initiated to protect the interest of stakeholders of the company (Knoke 2018). Like, in the case of Uber Inc. where the company stated that the drivers are their drive partners not the employees which created a dispute in the organization. Thus different laws are implemented to protect the interest of the customers and employees in an organization. Impact of change on managers job and skills The below mentioned are the impact of above mentioned activities on the job and skills of a manager: With the increase in customer focus, it has emerged as the duty of the manager to analyze the internal operations that they are initiated according to the expectation of the customer. The job of a manager has become diversified now they need to focus on all the operations initiated in the organization so as to complete their target successfully. Transformational leadership skills are mainly required by the mangers of organizations now days to successfully motivate the employees (Moran 2017). This type of leadership trait is also required to adopt new and efficient technology prevailing in the external environment. Apart from that, the managers now days need to use the quality of emotional intelligence so as to motivate the employees successfully and to make them work for the organization. They also need to become all-rounder in the job so that they can easily focus on the production process along with the compliance of legal obligation. As it has become important to initiate the corporate social responsibility, so the mangers now days need to focus on environmental sustainability as well (Church, and Burke 2017). Conclusion Thus, in the limelight of above mentioned events, it should be noted that it has become important for organizations and managers to change according to the changing environment.
